The STC target for 2011 of 28 million was met today – more than six months ahead of schedule.
Australia’s solar industry has responded in an unprecedented way to government policy measures and has delivered early on the target. The Australian community has embraced solar and more people than ever before are installing solar systems on their roofs.
More than 28.1 million STCs have been submitted to the regulator – 27.1 million were submitted for solar PV and over 1.1 million for solar hot water.
Solar PV in particular has responded strongly with more than 35,000 systems claiming STCs in each of the last few months. The cost of installing solar power has dropped considerably and we are now not far off reaching grid-parity. We estimate that more than 300,000 solar PV systems will be installed this year a 50% increase on the 200,000 systems installed last year.
